Spoiler: 2010 was not their year. Neither was 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, or 2015.

This is an original production-made Lanford Gazette prop newspaper from Roseanne (ABC, 1988–97), custom printed for the production by The Earl Hays Press. Made in 1994, this newspaper features a joke future-dated headline from the year 2010 - sixteen years away at the time - reading "Cubs Win! 2010 Is Our Year," a wry nod to the Chicago Cubs' legendary, seemingly endless championship drought.

Of course, 2010 came and went without a Cubs title. So did every other year until 2016, when the Cubs finally ended their 108-year World Series drought - the longest in the history of American professional sports. The last time they had won before that was 1908. The prop newspaper's joke aged for 22 years before the punchline finally landed.

Did you know? Roseanne ran for nine seasons on ABC from 1988 to 1997, set in the fictional working-class town of Lanford, Illinois, somewhere in the Chicago area. The show was one of the highest-rated series of its era, regularly drawing over 20 million viewers, and is widely regarded as one of the most authentic portrayals of working-class American family life in television history.

Back to the Future Part II (1989) also predicted a Cubs win in the 2010s. They only missed it by one year.
