A small card with a big story behind it.

This is an original production-made business card for Detective Tom Ryan (Joseph Gian) from Knots Landing (CBS, 1979–93), the long-running primetime series that outlasted its parent show and became a television institution in its own right. Custom printed for the production by The Earl Hays Press. It's the kind of prop that dressed pockets, desks, and the hands of Knots Landing's endlessly complicated cast of characters across 14 seasons. Gian appeared as Ryan in 43 episodes of the final four seasons of the show.

This is not a reproduction. This is a genuine production-made prop, pulled directly from the Earl Hays Press archive.

Did you know? Knots Landing began as a spinoff of Dallas (CBS, 1978–91), following Gary Ewing, the black sheep of the Ewing family to a quiet cul-de-sac in California. It ran for 14 seasons and 344 episodes, ultimately outlasting Dallas by two years.

In one of television's great continuity quirks, the infamous Dallas "dream season" (1985–86), in which an entire year of storylines, including Bobby Ewing's death, was retroactively declared a dream, created an irreconcilable continuity conflict with Knots Landing, whose writers had already incorporated those "dream" events into their own storylines as real. The result: crossover episodes between the two shows became effectively impossible, and the two series quietly went their separate ways.
