Though it had a modest theatrical run, it became a cult classic through home video and cable, and is now widely regarded as one of the greatest comedy parodies ever made. A long-awaited sequel, Spaceballs: The New One, is currently in production and scheduled for release in 2027, making original props from the first film more sought-after than ever.
